I'll admit that I didn't really know much about Joe Biden before the pick yesterday. I remembered him vaguely as one of the "Seven Dwarves" (old school props if you catch that reference - and, damn, I miss Pat Schroeder). I knew that he was a Senator from Delaware, and had been for decades. I remembered him from Bork/Thomas and from the Bankruptcy Bill a few years back. I know that he's got solid Foreign Policy chops, and I remember his federalist proposal for Iraq.
Beyond that, I've never really followed his career. Since GLBT and Women's issues are both very important to me, I decided to see what I could find out about him in that regard.
Oh, hell, yeah. One of my favorite fellow GLBTs / progressives is going to replacing the milquetoast Dan Abrams on MSNBC!
Per the NY Times:
Everyone's got a story.
How he or she became a Democrat. What transpired in their lives to attract them to their political beliefs. Who inspired them to think beyond their microcosm and view the larger world.
Those stories are easy to forget when sniping or snarking on a website. Obviously, there are sock puppets, and right-leaning folks here to cause trouble, and bored people who want to see if they can get other folks' blood boiling. It can be hard to sort the wheat from the chaff...
